Kala Wilette
Kala is a mother of two curious, fun loving children and teaches part time at Western Michigan University. She is also a certified yoga instructor. As a researcher, Kala is fascinated by the phenomenology of space and place as well as environmental and indigenous justice. She enjoys poetry, writing, rockhounding, exploring nature, large bodies of water, music and learning.

Her interest in native plant gardening and ecological restoration grew from a seminar exploring the relationship between restoring native landscapes and healing the harms caused by colonization of indigenous peoples. Kala views ecological restoration in our own yards and neighborhoods as meaningful acts that support biodiversity and reconnect people with the natural world.
